As we continue to enhance our facilities and programs, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our Senior Staff team.
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring that our museum facilities, tenant spaces, and exhibits are well-maintained and operational. This part-time position involves a variety of maintenance tasks, from routine upkeep to specialized repairs. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while supporting the overall mission of the museum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide maintenance services for the museum facilities, tenant facilities, and exhibits to ensure proper function and safety.
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors to facilitate maintenance needs for larger projects and regulatory requirements (e.g., elevators, fire protection systems).
- In accordance with regulatory requirements, conduct monthly function testing and documentation of smoke alarms, emergency lighting, and fire extinguishers.
- Purchase and maintain an adequate stock of routine maintenance materials and janitorial supplies.
- Assist staff with fundraising events as requested, primarily for setup and breakdown.
- Provide seasonal exterior grounds maintenance to maintain appearance and public safety, including shoveling snow and lawn mowing.
- Perform periodic carpet cleaning throughout the museum and public tenant spaces, utilizing appropriate carpet cleaning equipment and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in maintenance, repair, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a museum, educational, or child-focused environment.
- Certification or formal training in building maintenance or a related field.
Working Conditions:
- This is a part-time position requiring 20-25 hours per week. You will choose your own schedule.
- Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate museum needs and staff availability.
- The role may involve occasional evening or weekend hours for special events or emergency repairs.
